MURDERED: 10-year-old Anthony Cort

A second person was today charged with the murder of a 10-year-old boy who was shot during a robbery in March at Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

29-year-old Kendrick Cozier called ‘Bullaboy’ of ‘A’ Field Sophia appeared before Magistrate Roschell Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts.

Cozier was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on March 11, 2021, at ‘C’ Field Sophia, he murdered Anthony Cort, during the course of a robbery.

The murder accused was remanded to prison until July 9, 2021.

On March 19, last, a juvenile was charged and remanded to the juvenile holding center after being charged with the lad’s killing.

He, too, appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates Courts.

According to reports, Anthony Cort was shot and killed during the course of a robbery.

The child was with his mother two houses from where he resides when two males wearing face masks and armed with handguns invaded a property belonging to a 44-year-old businesswoman.

The 10-year-old was in the upper flat of the home located at ‘C’ Field Sophia in the company of others when the bandits approached the victims and held them at gunpoint.

The women were relieved of two cell phones valued at $80,000 each, two gold bands valued at $100,000, two gold finger rings valued at $100,000, one gold chain valued at $100,000, and $80,000 cash.

The gunmen then ordered the victims to the upper flat of the house via a northern door. At the said time, Cort was about to exit a north-eastern bedroom when one of the bandits discharged a round at him.

The bandits then ran north, jumped a zinc fence, and made good their escape. Shortly after, the EMT Ambulance Services responded and pronounced the child dead.
