Approximately one hour after he had a misunderstanding with his mother and disconnected the phone on her as she inquired about the time he was coming home, 22 year old Nial Persaud was killed in a crash on the Vreed-en-Hoop Public Road. Persaud lived at 635 Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

This was confirmed by his cousin who spoke with the BIG Smith Crime Watch on Tuesday afternoon at the Ezekiel Funeral Home where the remains of the young mechanic is being stored as the police await a postmortem examination.

Persaud lost control of his motorcycle after it’s handle clipped the side of a car that attempted to go from one side of the road to the other while he, Persaud was in the process of overtaking the vehicle.

The accident according to the police took place sometime around 00:25hrs hours and while relatives are contending that Persaud was wearing his helmet, police sources have indicated to us that the helmet was strapped onto the side of the motorcycle at the time of the crash.

The driver of the car HC 4991 who was tested for alcohol consumption pass the test but remains in custody while the vehicle and well as Persaud’s motorcycle CH 7218 are both lodged at the Vreed –En- Hoop Police station.

Nial Persaud reportedly suffered head injuries and a broken neck as a result of the impact. It was also reported that Persaud died on the spot. The investigations are ongoing.
