DEAD: Lomenzo Johnny

By Royan Abrams

Four persons have been arrested by the police in Berbice for the murder of 49-year-old businessman Lomenzo Johnny who was found dead in an empty lot a short distance from his home on January 07, 2020. When the investigation first started following the discovery of the remains earlier last month, three persons were arrested but were released on bail. they are not among the newly arrested.

Of the four who were arrested, one of them confessed to the police that they indeed carried out the crime. He told detectives that they went to rob the businessman but he was able to identify two of them so they had to kill him.

Of the four who were arrested, it was only the one who confessed but he has since implicated the other three who are in custody one who remains at large. Regional Commander Calvin Brutus confirmed these latest developments to BIG Smith News Watch.

“One more is being sought and if he is not arrested by the end of today, a wanted bulletin may be issued for him because the confession has implicated the three in custody along with the fifth person being sought,” Brutus told BIG Smith News Watch.

The Commander also confirmed the recovery of a large quantity of cash along with a damaged safe which is believed to have been the property of the now-dead businessman.

At about 07:45 hours, on the day in question, a construction worker came upon the remains of the businessman and raised an alarm following which the police were called in.

A police statement had indicated that over at the home of the diseased, a safe which was inside a northeastern bedroom was removed. The door on the southern side of the upper flat was opened. The building was searched by investigators and it was revealed that a .25 Auto Pistol with 28 matching live rounds of ammunition were found in the northeastern bedroom.
