Linden farmer remanded for killing brother

October 14 2026
A 22-year-old farmer was remanded to prison on Wednesday after being charged with the murder of his older brother, Romel Toney, at Millie’s Hideout in Linden.
Calvin Toney appeared before Magistrate Taneisha Saygon at the Linden Magistrates’ Court on October 14. He is expected to return to court on November 5.
The charge stems from an incident on October 10, when the brothers were reportedly drinking at Millie’s Hideout and became involved in an argument.
During the altercation, Romel allegedly armed himself with a knife, while Calvin took up a cutlass and dealt his older brother a chop to the neck.
Romel died at the scene.
Calvin was arrested shortly after the incident, and the alleged murder weapon was recovered.
He remains in prison pending his next court appearance.
