After a month of intense and exciting battles in this year’s Kashif and Shanghai One Guyana Futsal Championship, eight teams remain.

The eight victors from the round of 16 will do battle on Thursday May 11, in the quarterfinals. The remaining teams are; Kitty, Back Circle, Mackenzie All Stars, North East, Bent Street, California Square, Stabroek Ballers, and Sparta Boss.

Stabroek Ballers qualified by routing Albouystown 6-0 through an impressive hattrick notched by Bevney Marks. They will play Bent Street in the first match on Thursday, who qualified by knocking off Wismar Allstars 4-1 with Sheldon Holder bagging a brace.

In the second matchup of the night, California Square will lock horns with North East. While North East’s qualification into the quarterfinals was achieved through penalty kicks against Ballers Empire, California Square narrowly edged Leopold Street 2-1 through strikes by Burnette and Blaize.

Mackenzie Allstars survived a near comeback against NA United after leading 3-0 early on before United leveled the game with minutes to go. Amuniki Buntin scored the winner in the 35th minute and ultimately sealed Allstars place against Back Circle who qualified by trouncing Gold is Money 6-2. Ramsey led the way for Back Circle who were down early to a couple of goals by Jamal Pedro.

Kitty will face off against one of the tournament’s favorites in Sparta Boss, having qualified through a Stephan Reynolds Hattrick. Sparta Boss disposed of Festival City 5-1 through a brace from Jermain Junor to qualify.

Fans are urged to continue to come and show support to their favorite teams, as the tournament draws to its inevitable close. The semifinals are slated for Saturday 13th May.
