Princetown man in custody for murdering wife.

Lakram Sanichara also known as Anil has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering his wife, 28-year-old-Patricia Devi, on April 12.

The 43-year-old Excavator Operator lived with Devi and their two children (ages six and nine) at Princetown Berbice.

Rohoman Jamalodeen called “Frankie” reported to police that on the day in question, at approximately 12:45hrs, he went to his poultry farm, nearby to where the couple reside, upon arrival the victim’s children called out to him and told him that their father broke their mother’s neck.

On entering the house, Police observed the suspect sitting in a chair in the living room while the body of the victim was motionless in a sitting position with her head tilted to the right.

When questioned, Sanichara said that the victim normally plays tricks and she was pretending to be dead.

According to police, Devi’s body bore no marks of violence at the scene; she was then taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A post mortem conducted on April 13 by Dr. Brijmohan showed that Devi died as a result of a fracture to the cerebral spine. 

Sanichara, after being questioned, admitted that he and the victim had an argument over her children and his children from another relationship and he pushed her in the chair and be became angry and twisted her neck

The man and his spouse are reportedly heavy drinkers and would often have problems.
