Man stabs mother of three to death then drinks poison

39 year old Farida Khayum a mother of three was stabbed to death by her reputed husband last evening and succumbed to her injuries.

The incident took place at Lot 9 Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast at approximately 22.30 hrs on Thursday evening.

BIG Smith Crime Watch was informed that the woman who is employed was a domestic worker had just returned home and was preparing to head out back to a wedding house when her reputed husband, Davenand Narine attacked her with a knife. The man is said to be a miner.

Detectives were told that prior to the incident, the man was sitting in the hammock when the woman came up from work. As she was preparing to leave for the wedding house, they got into an argument when the man picked up the knife on her.

It is reported that she was stabbed several times to her neck and other parts of her body and immediately collapsed, the suspect then went into his room and consumed a bottle of weedicide (poison to humans) following which he collapsed also.

Both him and the woman were picked up and rushed to the hospital where the woman was pronounced dead on arrival and Narine was admitted a patient.

At the time of the incident, the woman’s children and her mother were at home also. The police investigations are ongoing.
