Gov’t still inviting proposals for eco-lodges, resort proposals

With the deadline initially set for Monday, January 30, 2022, for interested individuals, groups, and companies to submit proposals for the development of eco-lodges and resorts, the deadline date has been extended due to overwhelming support of the initiative.

The Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce on Friday announced that the new deadline date for the submission of proposals will be the end of February 2022.

In December of 2021, the government through the Tourism Ministry made a call for the proposals as he seeks to have eco-lodges and resorts in the various regions countrywide.

“Like the Request for Proposals for the internationally-branded hotels, these new RFPs (Request for proposals) will be a catalyst for the rapid evolution and expansion of Guyana’s tourism sector. As such, we want to ensure that we allow for comprehensive submissions of projects that align with the government’s vision of sustainable tourism,” the ministry noted.

The objective of the project is to generate employment by engaging the local communities.  Applicants are advised to send proposals to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce. Applications can be found at mintic.gov.gy/eco-lodge-2/.
