LETTER: Should the Ministry of Education undertake to sanitize schools?

Dear sir/madam,

Teachers and parents would like to know if it’s too much for the Ministry of Education to sanitize the schools in situations where there are positive covid-19 cases.

There was such a case at the New Diamond / Grove Primary school (a teacher was tested positive for Covid -19) and the Head Teacher thought it best to carry on school as normal.

The Head Teacher failed to inform the staff that one of their colleagues was tested positive and also failed to ensure that contact tracing was done.

According to the Head Teacher, it is no longer the policy of the Ministry of Education (Region 4) to close or sanitize schools when covid-19 cases are reported.

Could this be right? is this how the authorities show concern for the safety and well-being of students and teachers in face-to-face classrooms during this pandemic?

CONCERNED PARENT & TEACHER.
