The requirement for foreigners traveling to Guyana to be vaccinated will become effective from Sunday, August 8, 2021. This is according to Minister of Public Works with responsibility for the Aviation Sector, Bishop Juan Edghill.

In a Facebook post, he noted that persons will be required to have at least one dose of a vaccine and produce a negative PCR test prior to entry into Guyana. This move, he said, is aimed “to ensure safety for both visitors to Guyana and our local population.”

“The Government of Guyana remains committed to achieving herd immunity here in Guyana and will work assiduously to protect the health and wellbeing of all Guyanese,” he added.

On July 23, the Government implemented a guideline for nationals of Trinidad and Tobago to be fully vaccinated before traveling to Guyana. The order was gazetted under the Civil Aviation Act of Guyana cited as the Civil Aviation (Health-safety measures for airports and aircraft during a public health pandemic) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

According to country updated COVID-19 guidelines, ‘Vaccinated’ means receiving at least one dose of the AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Pfizer, Moderna, and the Johnson and Johnson jabs.
