In communication with a medical expert, BIG Smith News Watch was informed that a process of rigor-mortis generally occurs four hours after death and the cycle is generally completed within 12-14 hours after death. Rigor-mortis is the process where a body becomes stiff after death due to chemical changes in the muscles causing stiffness of limbs and other muscle tissues.
Rigor mortis can be influenced by factors such as temperature, this means that if the remains of someone is left exposed in a room or place with high temperature, the process is accelerated. If the body is in a place where the temperature is low, rigor mortis takes longer.
The 12-14 hours cycle of rigor mortis happens simultaneously as the body tissue disintegrates, all be it not at the same rate. In cases where water is involved, for example drowning, rigor-mortis takes longer since the body is submerged and the temperature may be low.
“In normal circumstances, a person who has drowned will take approximately 72 hours to surface”. This according to our expert, takes place when sufficient gas builds up in the remains due to decay, the gas is what floats the body to the water surface.
In relation to Adrianna Younge, she was reported missing and checks were done by family members in the pool at Double Day Hotel. The last search was said to be conducted Thursday Morning by family members. It should also be noted that the pool was not secured either by the police or the family on Wednesday night and it was only the hotel’s management and staff who access to it.
It should also be noted that when her remains were pulled from the pool, it was extremely stiff, this was confirmed by her father who this publication spoke to as well as from a video seen by this publication.
“This means that the Rigor Mortis cycle was completed, an almost impossibility to have occurred had the remains been in the water for 14 Hrs between Wednesday to the time she was discovered on Thursday morning because again, we are talking temperature” the medical expert told BIG Smith News Watch.
The swiftness with which the remains of Adrianna Younge completed the Rigor-Mortis cycle would suggest that she was dead before her body ended up in the pool according to our medical expert. This conclusion was arrived at because had she been in the water the whole time, her remains would be soft given the temperature throughout the night.
Adrianna Younge was first reported missing at 14:00Hrs on Thursday, while police and family members were standing looking into the pool on Thursday morning, the remains popped up. Previous searches in the pool for her came up empty handed.
The rate of decomposition which forms gas that allows for the floating of the remains to the surface of the pool was not fully attained based on science.
This could mean that Adrianna Younge could have been dead somewhere out of the pool where the temperature was sufficient enough to attain the complete cycle of rigor-mortis, this publication was told.
On Wednesday April 23, 2025, Adrianna Younge accompanied her grandmother and other relatives for a swim at the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.
By 14:00hrs, the child’s grandmother reported that she was nowhere to be found. A search of the pool revealed that the child was not there.
The police later informed and later on that night, issued a statement saying they have gathered video evidence of the child leaving the premises in a car.
It turned out that the information was both false and misleading as video footage from premises around d the area showed no exit move by Adrianna Young from the hotel.
The family camped outside of the hotel after the police refused repeated requests by family members to have the premises search throughly.
The body of the young girl was found in the pool. The same pool which was also searched just hours before on Thursday morning, April 24, 2025.
Following the discovery of the remains, protesters began setting fire to the business place.
