MURDER SUSPECTS: DaSilva, Figeura and Baksh

Two Venezuelan nationals and a Guyanese will appear in court for the murder of 26 year old Kevin Allam, a gold miner of Turn Basin, Port Kaituma, North West District who killed on November 27at White Water.

An early morning press statement from the police indicated that the Director of Public Prosecution has recommended charges against the trio and they are expected to appear in court at Port Kaituma.

Gilberto DaSilva 22 gold miner of Barranes Venezuela, Angel Figeura 20 of Barranes Venezuela and Blankenburg Essequibo Coast and Blankenburg Essequibo Coast and Naeem Baksh 22 good miner of Airy Hall Essequibo Coast have all had the murder charge recommend against them by the DPP.

The police in their statement over the weekend noted that Allam was allegedly killed by three males.

It was stated by the force initially that the reputed wife of the deceased was at their shop when the suspects approached her and held by her hair.

Having observed this, her reputed husband (Allam) went to her assistance when the other two suspects pounced on him and dealt him several lashes about his body with a piece of wood until he became motionless.

He was then dragged a short distance away where one of the suspects took out a knife and slit the deceased’s throat, whilst another suspect held him down.

On completion of the wounding, the suspects then proceeded into the shop and removed some raw gold but did not harm the reputed wife after she pleaded for her life.

The suspects were later arrested at Port Kaituma water front after the police received information about their presence there.
