A wounding charge against 36-year-old Clyde Watson called DJ “Raw Gold” has been dismissed after the victim agreed to accept $300,000 compensation. In April, Watson of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara was slapped with a wounding charge over stabbing Marlon Williams also known as “Yannick”, a music selector, with a Guinness bottle.

When the matter was called on Monday, Williams agreed to accept the compensation, and as such Magistrate Annette Singh dismissed the case. It was alleged that on April 10, 2021, at Lance Gibbs Street,  Georgetown, Watson unlawfully and maliciously wounded Williams.

Watson still has another charge pending in the court. It is alleged that on the same day at the same location, he unlawfully assaulted Melissa Duke. Watson has pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted $55,000 bail. He was also placed on a bond to keep the peace.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, Watson lashed the music selector to the face with a Guinness bottle during a live radio programme on HJ 94.1 Boom FM. He then took the broken bottle and dealt Williams several stabs.

Watson is accused of pushing Duke to the ground causing her to receive injuries about her body. Following the incident, Williams was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was treated and sent away. Watson was later charged.

Shortly after the incident, the management of HJ 94.1 Boom FM sent out a statement stating that a decision was made to suspend the radio programme and the two individuals from the airwaves.
